Agricultural Cost-Share Program:
A new cost-share program is now available for farmers in the Elkhart River Watershed, which includes parts of Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, and Noble counties. The program will provide financial assistance to farmers who are interested in installing conservation practices on their land. Eligible practices include manure management plans, exclusion fencing, rotational grazing, and many more. Applicants can receive up to 75% cost-share on approved practices.
The first round of applications begins immediately and will end June 30, 2008. Interested parties should contact Lynette VanBrandt, the Ag Conservationist at the Elkhart County Soil and Water Conservation District at 574-533-3630, ext. 3, for an application. Applications will still be taken after June 30, but those that are submitted before that date will have priority for cost-share funds.
This program is sponsored by the Elkhart River Restoration Association and the Elkhart River Alliance through an EPA 319 grant.
