A Steering Committee of the  Elkhart River Restoration Association Inc.

The Elkhart River Alliance Steering Committee was formed when the Elkhart River Restoration  Association decided to address the issue of sediment in the Goshen Dam Pond by writing an EPA 319 Grant.

Working with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and the Elkhart County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), a group of concerned citizens met to identify the interest and need for a watershed plan. Two public meetings were held and a list of preliminary concerns was identified.

A grant proposal to develop a formal watershed plan and funds to begin implementation was submitted to IDEM.  Word was received in October 2006 that the proposal will be funded.
The Elkhart River Alliance and a professional watershed coordinator will organize public input, develop and begin voluntary implementation of the plan.
